On the luckiest Saturday of this year, I was fortunate enough to photograph Jenny & Jack's "lucky day." The ladies looked gorgeous...

After a cozy ceremony at Burnaby Heritage Museum, joined by family from near and far,

...it was off to the classic Terminal City Club for a delicious dinner, more photos and crazy dance moves with the awesome DJs of Beyond Sound!

Last Saturday, in the wee-e-e-e hours of the morning, I met Susan and Ted at Abbotsford airport for their original engagement shoot! Susan and Ted have a very sweet "meeting up" story in which Westjet airlines played a central role. Susan asked her friend Joey to arrange for our early morning sunrise (sun? what sun??) shoot on the Westjet tarmac and Joey made it happen!!

Despite my bleary eyes, some rain and a plane with a schedule to keep, we managed to get some cool shots in front of the plane that was so instrumental to their meeting! Plus, Susan & Ted got to flaunt their respective teams' jerseys - no, no competition there! ;)

Thanks you guys for your early morning smiles, cooperation and especially the Tim H's coffee!! Special thanks to Joey for making it happen - what a great opportunity!

Father's Day, Salt Spring style!

This year, we spent Father's Day over in beautiful Salt Spring and it tied in with the island's first annual Children's Festival. Lucky for us, a gray morning gave way to a sunny, warm afternoon! We enjoyed some costumes, great music, crafts and yummy homemade noodles and popsicles! It was a little too much for poor Finnegan, I think....

Family shoots!

I've been lucky enough to shoot and capture some great moments this past month from two wonderful families....

First, the Hudson family and all four of their gorgeous girls, especially 10 month old Emily! For the record, I love the Belle dress, Lauren, it looked beautiful!

Next, the Hewko clan out in Steveston to mark Miss Kaylie's first birthday. It was such a pretty location despite a grey cool morning!

Jo & George's wedding - June 1st, 2007

After more than a year of long-distance planning from their adopted home of the Caribbean, Joanna & George tied the knot Vancouver-style at the lovely Terminal City Club. Jo wore a GORGEOUS fairy tale dress that truly made her the princess of the day. George, cool as ever, looked amazing in his tuxedo. Family and friends from town and afar joined them for a spectacular buffet, arranged and overseen by the culinary advice of George himself. It was a beautiful June Vancouver day - we couldn't have asked for better weather to take the family, wedding party and Jaime from Phoenix films and I around Coal Harbour and Gastown for some unique backdrops for their photos!

Shama & Travis' Brentwood Bay Wedding - Sunday May 27th

Only last week did I first talk with Shama, a bride from Arizona, planning her destination wedding in Victoria BC. Shama & Travis did an amazing job, together with their friends, of pulling together a GORGEOUS wedding full of love, Feng Shui traditions and family and friends. With thirty six of their closest friends and family in tow (and me!), we traveled from their Brentwood Bay Lodge & Spa to the secluded and beautiful Rhodadendron garden in Beacon Hill Park. Their ceremony occurred in 2 circles, one inside the other. Shama and Travis in turn faced each of her 3 officients for their part of the ceremony while an outer circle of friends, attendants and family looked on. After some time in the park to take pix, we scooted back up to Brentwood Bay Lodge for an amazing buffet and some time outside in the sunset for some last pictures. A gorgeous day! I'm so happy you called me that Sunday, Shama, and even happier that you weren't, actually, a long-distance telemarketer!

my first post!

I'll admit, this is my first time posting a blog after admiring others' for so long. Very cool, very easy. I just have one comment tonight - I'm reading a great, easy read book, called "An Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life," by Amy Krause Rosenthal. Except for being organized alphabetically, the entries are pretty similar to blogs. In any case, it's a fun, easy read that will help you look at life a little more objectively and not so seriously. Read it - and then, think about:

-what random acts of kindness could you do everyday (e.g., give right of way - ALWAYS!, leave change in an obscure spot with a self-addressed postcard asking the recipient to anonymously mail it to you explaining what they did with the money)

-what did you perceive as a child only to find you were totally off-base as an adult (e.g., do teachers live at school? the first, script letter of the Bay's sign was actually a B, and not a Q that everyone understood to be a B? that dancing in front of a window, at night, allows you to see your reflection - cool, but also, unfortunately, lets everyone outside see your karaoke version of "Dancing Queen."

Try the book - Rosenthal has some great observations of life that will make you pause and look at it a little differently.
